named RHO-SIGMA-TAU Robert L. Shoemaker Professor of Physics

The president of the University of Texas
at El Paso conferred the title of RHO-SIGMA-TAU Robert L. Shoemaker Professor
of Physics to Dr. Jorge A. Lopez at the University convocation last Sunday
April 26, 2001. The reasons for such an award were, according to
Dr. Clarence Cooper, former holder of the professorship, "we basically
ran out of good applicants".
